Gawler Instrument Company was established by Phillip Gawler in 1956 with its core business in prototyping and manufacturing components, supplying precision measuring equipment and tools for a wide range of industries.
In early 1990s, Len Kerwood, foundation member of the Metrology Society of Australasia (MSA), holding expertise in maintenance and calibration of aviation equipment, carried the business forward and expanded the business to the metrology industry, providing various calibration services. Len was awared by MSA in 1999 for the excellence in Australian metrology.
In late 2000s, the business welcomed another big step by the acquisition of Allied Instrumentation, which was initially established in early 1990 by Chris Van Hattum, targeting the surveying industry by providing a wide range of surveying related tools, accessories and repair and calibration services.
In mid 2014, with the retirement of Len, the business greeted the handover to Tiger Chen, member of the IEEE, MSA. Tiger holds an electronic engineering background in control and optical communication systems, with expertise in measurement and instrumentation design and implementation and years of experience in building up ISO/IEC 17025 quality system for calibration facility.
